Our Student

Magnolia Mill offers a peak educational experience alongside advanced clinical services.

With our unique approach, our program is a leading option for bright-minded students to develop the critical skills necessary for a successful transition from treatment into young adulthood — and across their lives.

A Learning Community

The students at Magnolia Mill School are gifted learners who may have struggled to keep up with the rapidly increasing social, emotional, and academic demands brought on by adolescents. Many of our students have become discouraged as their losses were stacking up against their wins, and their relationship to their education suffered as a result. At Magnolia Mill, we pride ourselves on repairing our students’ relationship to school and restoring their confidence in themselves as strong and capable learners. Through a strength-based and integrated approach with individualized support, our students start to believe in their own potential.

Our Students

At Magnolia Mill, we are cognizant that these challenges go far beyond the academic setting and it is our mission to guide our students as they navigate their therapeutic work to resolve the painful symptoms and underlying source that first brought them into treatment. Students at Magnolia Mill arrive to us having struggled with the following:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Attachment disruptions
  • ADHD
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • School refusal
  • Family conflict
  • Emotion dysregulation
  • Substance misuse
  • Disordered eating

We partner with our students through an individualized, client-centered approach empowering them to take ownership and actively participate in their unique therapeutic journey. While our students may start their journey with us from an insecure or guarded place, they quickly begin to gain trust and confidence in the process and their growing relationships, allowing them to take a more dynamic role in their treatment planning.

At Magnolia Mill, we value walking this journey alongside our students, offering them an experience they can feel invested in and proud of. This therapeutic alliance is further supported by empirical, evidence-based clinical practices setting the stage for optimal growth.

Our Campus

Set on a sprawling landscape, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Magnolia Mill offers an expansive environment, immersed in the tranquility of nature. Its beauty is that it encourages both stillness and quiet as well as curiosity, adventure, and growth. Our students utilize all 25 acres of campus from the Lodge where they live and socialize, to the Academic Center where they attend classes, to the Cottage for individual and family therapy. They also enjoy our on-site equine program, private pond and foot paths through the forests.

Most recently, we opened our Independent Living Dorm where students preparing to transition home can gain relevant practice through increased autonomy with time management, personal responsibility, and technology. Not far from the vibrant, artistic city of Asheville, NC, our students often contrast their time on campus with fun, creative and experiential activities in the community.

An Approach Focused on Community and Client-Driven Agency

At Magnolia Mill, students are encouraged to voice their preferences, set goals, and actively engage in the development of their individualized treatment plans, fostering a sense of ownership and autonomy.
