Science Teacher

Talin Brown has been dedicated to education for over 14 years, having taught at public schools, university levels, and a science center in Northern Alabama. His diverse teaching background includes biology, earth and environmental science, and chemistry.

Talin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Master’s degree in Biology from Florida International University. He also earned his teaching certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at UNC Charlotte.

At Magnolia Mill School, Talin teaches various science courses and serves as an academic advisor, working closely with a group of 6-10 students to help them develop their academic plans and achieve their personal and educational goals. He also leads teacher-led study halls and facilitates the school's Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) chapter.

Talin is passionate about creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment. He believes in the potential of every student and is committed to helping those who feel unprepared or reluctant to learn. His approach emphasizes hands-on learning for science and provides lab experiences and projects that go beyond the traditional classroom setting.

As a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee, Talin is committed to ensuring that programming and policies at Magnolia Mill School are inclusive and equitable. This commitment is central to his teaching philosophy and his work within the school community. Outside the classroom, Talin enjoys playing the ukulele, though he admits he is still perfecting his skills.
