A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education Shawn brings a deep-rooted passion for education and nearly 30 years of experience in therapeutic work to Magnolia Mill. Shawn passionately empowers students and families guiding them through the intricacies of educational and personal development. Shawn has a long tenure of leading companies, developing programs, mentoring staff, and coaching families towards new opportunities. He has experience as a private consultant guiding students and parents through college, therapeutic programs, and boarding school placement with personalized consultations and mentoring. Throughout his career he has had the privilege of working closely with students and their families, offering them vital support and guidance in navigating the often complex educational and emotional development processes. Shawn states: "I thrive in assisting students in developing their ideas, framing their narratives, and presenting themselves effectively. Helping young people tackle challenges, explore passions, and set achievable goals, empowering students to discover unique paths to success." Through varied roles as a high school English teacher, coach, tutor, mentor and guide he has developed the skills to meet students where they are and push them to achieve their best. He has worked with both students and families, teaching parenting workshops and family communication programs. Shawn has also served as head of the ethics committee for the Outdoor Behavioral Health Council, Committee Chair for corporate Best Practices Committees, and CARF and academic accreditation committees member for private companies.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds motivation in the thrill of adventure, the pursuit of knowledge, and the enrichment of experience. Embarking on mountain biking adventures with his family and being immersed in natural environments are among the many ways he embraces life's adventures. A respectful and compassionate mentor, his love for teaching, leading and learning fuels his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of students and their families.
