Academic Director

An accomplished educator with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor's degree in History, Carol Sowers, M.Ed., brings a diverse skill set and a wealth of experience to her role at Magnolia Mill. Carol has grown from her roles as an ESL and English teacher to becoming a core leader in the academic administration and student support sectors.

Carol's diverse career began at a boarding school specializing in Learning Services, where she quickly adapted to the American educational system and honed her skills in student life and support services. Her role as an Autism Paraprofessional provided her with extensive experience working with IEPs and students on the spectrum, further enriched during her tenure at the Islamic Saudi Academy. There, she supported a wide range of students, from those needing low-level support to Ivy League aspirants.

Transitioning into the role of Assistant Principal, Carol managed transcripts, guided international students and their families, and addressed various behavioral and academic challenges. At Magnolia Mill, she now leads the academic team, creates term schedules, maintains transcripts for college applications, and supports families through legal processes. Additionally, Carol is instrumental in faculty training, licensure needs, and the school's reaccreditation efforts with COGNIA.

One of her significant achievements at Magnolia Mill includes helping a student who arrived with only two credits to graduate through an individualized, accelerated learning program.

At Magnolia Mill, Carol strives to reignite students' love for learning and help them discover their potential. She firmly believes in every student's ability to learn and succeed. Her unique perspective as an adoptive parent helps her build strong connections with adopted students, a common profile of students in the community. Beyond her professional life, Carol is a proud Star Wars enthusiast, with family cats named after characters from the saga. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending quality moments with her family, including her son.
